SHEET MUSIC

Search the PAC either by Author (Composer) or by Keyword or type of composition or instrument (and always add the word "scores" to the search). For example, "mozart AND scores"

If a patron can't find sheet music or music scores in the SDSU Library using the instructions at Searching for Music Scores in the PAC, there are other options.

Local public libraries may have the sheet music in a songbook. To find out which songbook has the song in question, do a search in the Los Angeles Public Library's Song Index: http://www.lapl.org/resources/indexes/

Orchestra scores can be found in the Orchestration Catalogue at the LAPL: http://www.lapl.org/resources/indexes/

The San Joaquin Valley Library Service (SJVLS) also has a list of songs that they can make available at http://www.sjvls.lib.ca.us/sjvls/songs/

With a few exceptions, like the public domain music in the Library of Congress American Memory web site: http://memory.loc.gov/ammem//collections/finder.html, the sheet music that you find on the Internet is for sale and is not downloadable. You can purchase sheet music from the following sites:

The Vince Meades Sheet Music Collection (http://infodome.sdsu.edu/friends/meades.shtml) is in Special Collections. It includes over 58,000 pieces of sheet music including most Academy Award winning songs. Other sheet music collections can sometimes be found referenced on the Internet.
