MUTUAL USE is the term used by the CSU Libraries to refer to services which our library will offer to non-SDSU CSU students, faculty, staff, and alumni association members. This also refers to the services our students, faculty, staff, and alumni association members will receive from fellow CSU libraries.

Mutual use services SDSU offers include:

  • Can register and check out books for 28 days, subject to recall, however they cannot place holds or recalls.
    • Media items must be used in-house; no external checkout.
    • No direct Circuit and Link+ privileges, but if the patron's home library is part of Link+ they can request items through their library's site and have the item sent for pick up at SDSU or any other Link+ school (this service is known as 'Pick-Up Anywhere').
    • Circuit university faculty, students, and staff can check out books at all Circuit universities via "visiting patron." County patrons must request books via Circuit to be delivered to their local branch library.
    • "Visiting patron" is also available to our students, faculty, and staff at Link+ libraries.
  • 24/7 Study Area - can stay between 1am-7am if have a CSU ID card
  • Can set up an ILL account if faculty, student, or staff. No ILL for alumni association members.
  • No remote access, but they do have remote access for their own campus's resources. Alumni association members do not have remote access privileges.
