INFLATION RATE

To figure inflation rate, use Consumer Price Index.

Take beginning and ending figures and figure the difference.

Divide this difference by the beginning date's figure.

The result equal rate of inflation.

Example: 1974-147.7; 1975-1161.2
Difference = 13.5
Divide 13.5 by 147.7
Result is 9.1%
