Applications are available on large signs in the 24/7 Study Area, near the Circulation Desk and in the Student Computing Center.

There is a cover sheet on the application that explains the process – please read it.

Fill in your application completely – don’t leave any areas blank, no N/As, etc. There are positive ways to say, “I don’t have any experience in that area.”

Supervisors go through the resumes whenever they have open positions. They will call one or two applicants for an interview.

Every supervisor has different hiring criteria.

Don’t contact the Supervisors directly since it could damage your chances for a position.

We receive 500 applications and hire approximately 50 students per semester, so you have a 1 in 10 chance of getting a job at the library.

Applications are for one semester only -- after that they are shredded and the process begins again for the next semester.

Improving your English language conversational skills will greatly increase your opportunities for employment in the library.

Don’t be discouraged if you aren’t hired this semester -- try to familiarize yourself with the library services we offer.

On average someone is hired every week of the year. Students are sometimes hired in the last week of the semester.

If you are hired by the Library and you don’t have a Social Security Card, they will write a letter for you. It usually takes a couple of weeks to get the Social Security Number, you will not be able to work until you have received your SSN.

If you need to work – don’t limit your search to the library. Visit Career Services and see where else you can apply on campus.
