In some cases of academic dishonesty or other misconduct, students are required by the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities (CSRR) to use a software program called Multimedia Integrity Teaching Tool (MITT). ) It is on reserve in the Media Center, and can be checked out for 4 hours to be used exclusively in the Media Center. PLAGIARISM TUTORIAL INFORMATION
We occasionally get questions from students who are trying to complete the plagiarism tutorial quiz. Here are some facts that will help:
1) The plagiarism tutorial lives on our library servers. The quizzes do not. The quizzes are in an online software system called Quia. The students do not need to know this, but it might help you troubleshoot to determine if a server is down.
2) There are links to the prequiz and quiz from inside the plagiarism tutorial.
3) The quiz will open in a new browser window.
4) All of the quiz questions appear on one screen (regular looking webpage). Students scroll down and answer ALL the questions. They must answer each question and then click the submit button at the bottom. [Questions are hard; quiz system is easy]
5) The quiz will advance to the next page with the student's results. It does not use pop-up windows.
6) Students should do whatever it is their instructor asked them to do with the quiz results. Many instructors ask their students print their quiz results and submit the printout (or upload a saved file online) for credit. The Library does not certify that they completed the tutorial and we do not know what their instructor has required of them for this assignment.
7) For instructors (because you may get this question from them): Unfortunately, the current quiz system does not communicate with the Blackboard Gradebook. We are asking that your students print their quiz results and submit the printout (or upload a saved file online) for credit, if required. We are working on a home-grown quiz system that can output the quiz results in a format that is easy for faculty to use. Our anticipated completion date for the new quiz system is spring 2010.
