JOURNAL AND MAGAZINE -- DIFFERENCES

For the difference between and among research (peer-reviewed) journals, popular magazines, and trade newsletters, see:

Many databases also have a way to qualify searches to limit to peer reviewed or scholarly journals. Some (such as Proquest and Ebsco) can limit by popular magazines as well, but many databases are unable to do this.

Cabell's Directories for Business, Education, and Psychologydatabase is a good place to look for individual journals to see if they are peer reviewed (scholarly) or not. One can also look at the journal publisher's website to check the peer review status of manuscripts.
