Specialized encyclopedias (such as the Encyclopedia of Cultural Anthropology) sometimes have entries on careers in that particular field. A Google search might also be useful.

San Diego County Library (SDCL) has Testing and Education Reference Center with Careers database which includes practice entrance exams, vocational tests online and information about careers, colleges & universities, and scholarship opportunities.
