CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS
Conference proceedings are difficult to find. Many subscription databases and periodical indexes do not cover proceedings. Here are some places to look:
FirstSearch "Proceedings First" and FirstSearch "Papers First"
Sociological Abstracts or PsycInfo or PsycEXTRA (Sociology and Psychology)
Biosis Previews (Life Sciences and Biomedical Sciences)
ERIC (Education and Psychology conferences)
IEEE Explore (Engineering proceedings)
To actually find the full text of a paper given at a conference, do a title or keyword search in the PAC to see if we own the material. If not, order through Circuit, Link, or Interlibrary loan.
Remember that some conference papers are later published as journal articles; sometimes the content is exactly the same and sometimes it is revised. Journal article databases often make note of this.
Sometimes conference papers are only published as an abstract. Contacting the author(s) of the paper would be the best way to obtain the complete text in these cases.
