Proquest and Lexis-Nexis Citations

There are some computer applications (unfortunately not available on library workstations) that students can purchase that will automatically format their bibliography in a particular citation format. For example, End-Note, and Reference Manager (see http://www.isiresearchsoft.com/), which are available for purchase at the SDSU Bookstore at 594-7522. This software is fairly expensive, although the student discounted price at Aztec Shops is about $100.

Students can also buy specialized software over the Internet that is somewhat less expensive and that will do the same thing as Pro-Cite, although just for one particular format (like APA). See http://www.apastyle.org/stylehelper/ or http://www.charm.net/~rps/ or http://www.styleease.com/

SDSU now has a site-license to a Web-based application called RefWorks which is very flexible and accommodates different citation formats.

Also see Zotero (http://www.zotero.org/) and http://citationmachine.net/

Marilyn Hall (x45864) and other librarians teach workshops to faculty and students on EndNote and RefWorks.

Handouts on citation style can be found on the display racks on Reference.
