The Library & Information Access is committed to information literacy, lifelong learning, and creative endeavors in a welcoming environment as per our mission statement. To accomplish our mission the Library has worked diligently to develop a culture of assessment. Assessment activities occur throughout the Library in three areas: Information Literacy, Library Collections, and Library Services. Student learning outcomes and program outcomes have been identified for each of the three areas of focus. The success of the Library’s efforts to accomplish their learning outcomes is measured through a number of direct measures including exams, library instruction assignments, and case analyses. Additionally indirect measures such as surveys and focus groups are routinely used to assess the effectiveness of the Library’s services and collections. Assessment results are shared throughout the Library and serve as the driving force for programmatic change.
